１）
Un soir de Noël, le Père Noël dit : « Depuis de nombreuses années,
je livre toutes sortes de cadeaux mais je me demande quel est le plus précieux que l’on puisse recevoir... Sûrement pas un objet ».

あるクリスマスの夜にサンタ・クロースが言いました。
「わしはこれまでたくさんのプレゼントを届けて来たが、
最高のプレゼントっていうのは……なにかのう？
モノでないことは確かじゃがな」

IT was one Christmas night,
And Santa's eyes shone bright.
“Over the years I've de-livered many a gift.
Yet what's the best gift for all?
Not an object, I'm sure.”

L’ours polaire au nez rouge entendit sa réflexion et dit : « Père Noël, moi, ce que je voudrais vraiment c’est ne pas être jugé sur mon apparence.
J’ai beau être grand et fort, j’ai un cœur comme tout le monde.
Certaines personnes croient qu’elles peuvent m’insulter sous prétexte que ça ne me touche pas ».
Le Père Noël acquiesça :
« Je vois, je vois ».

それを聞いた赤鼻の白クマは言いました。
「それはサンタさん。わたしが本当に欲しいものと言ったら、見た目にとらわれない心です。
わたしはこんなに大きくて力持ちだけど、心はみんなと同じなんです。でも、なかなかわかってくれない。
酷い言葉を投げつけても、大丈夫だと思ってる人が
たまにいるから」
「ふむふむ、そうか」サンタ・クロースは頷きました。

The red-nosed Polar Bear replied,
“Well, Santa, what I long most foris not to be judged by my form.
Although I am indeed very strong,
to judge me different would be wrong.
Because no one can really see
it’s unkind to hurl insults at me.”
“Mmm, very well, very well,” said Santa.

３）
Le Père Noël réfléchit un long moment puis s’installa à son bureau et sortit une carte avant de lancer : « Tu as raison.
Il faut parfois dire à ceux que tu aimes, tes amis, ta famille,
combien tu tiens à eux et pour cela tu dois être direct avec eux ».
L’ours polaire au nez rouge prit place à côté du Père Noël et se mit à écrire.

サンタ・クロースはしばらくじっと考え込んで、
ライティングデスクに向かうと、便箋を１枚出して言いました。
「ふむふむ、そうじゃの。
どんなに親しい友でも、家族でも、たとえ恋人でも、思っているだけでは、伝わらないこともあるからのぉ。
たまには、まっすぐに言葉を伝えなくちゃいかんのぉ」
赤鼻のシロクマも、サンタ・クロースの隣に座って
手紙を書きました。

Santa thought about this long and hard, turned to his desk and pulled out a card.
“What you say is true. No matter what you may feel for a loved one or a friend, how do they know it’s real?
It’s really only fair to tell them how much you care.”
The red-nosed Polar Bear sat down next to Santa, and promptly put pen to paper.

Toc toc. Le bonhomme de neige frappa à la fenêtre et dit : « J’ai le même problème.
Les gens pensent que je suis froid mais en fait je suis très chaleureux. Quand le printemps est là je disparais mais je ne les oublie jamais.
Je m’en vais avec l’arrivée du printemps mais ce n’est pas parce que je ne veux pas voir les gens ».

コンコンコン。
スノーマンが窓をたたき言いました。
「私も、見た目は冷たそうですが、心は温かいんですよ。春にはいなくなってしまいますが、でも、いつでも皆さんのことを思っています。会えないからこそ、深くなる思いもあるのです。決して、会いたくないから春にどこかに行ってしまうわけじゃありません」

“Knock, knock,”
a Snowman tapped on the window.
“It’s the same for me, actually!
Although I look very cold, my heart is warm and bold.
I may disappear in spring, but I’ll tell you one thing, I never forget a friend, on that you can depend.
The more I miss you, the more I care.
And that’s the truth, I swear!
I do not disappear to escape my friends here.”

«Ho ho ho.
Comme je te comprends.
Même quand tu n’es pas de neige,
je te vois rire dans la rosée du matin » dit le Père Noël en tapant gentiment sur l’épaule du bonhomme de neige.
« Moi aussi, je vais écrire une lettre avant d’être trop vieux » répondit le bonhomme de neige et il se mit à écrire avec enthousiasme.

「ほうほう、なるほどな。よ〜くわかっておるよ。それに、君が雪でないあいだも。朝露のなかで、笑っているのを、わしはちゃんと見ているからの」
サンタ・クロースはスノーマンの肩をやさしく叩いて言いました。
「私も春が近づいたら、手紙を書くことにします」
スノーマンは楽しそうに言いました。

“I understand you, sir.
Never fear, because
even when you are not made of snow, I spy you laughing in the morning dew and I know that you never really want to go.”
Santa patted the Snowman gently on the shoulder and the Snowman smiled and said, “Before I get older,
I’ll write a letter to make you all feel better.”

«Si vous aimez vraiment quelqu’un, vous ne devriez pas vous en séparer » dit la pieuvre en rassemblant les cadeaux.
« Mais même en se collant à ceux que l’on aime, parfois, on n’arrive pas à leur dire ce que l’on pense.
Certaines personnes aiment qu’on se colle à elles, d’autres veulent garder leurs distances et d’autres encore veulent rester seules, même si on les aime.
Bref, chacun son style.
Chaque personne est différente et c’est charmant d’arriver à se comprendre ».

「大好きだったら、本当はくっついて離れないのが一番なんだけどねぇ」
タコがプレゼントをまとめながら言いました。
「でも、くっついていても、心が伝わらなくなることも
あるんだけどね。
くっついてるのが好きな人もいれば、
ちょっと距離をおいていたい人もいるし、好きなのに一緒にいられない人もいるし……。つまり、いろいろってことだわね。みんな同じじゃないから、理解し合あうっていうことがステキなのよね」

“If you really love someone, you should never hide,”
said the Octopus who was sorting gifts inside.
“But then again, even if you’re close,
your heart can feel more remote than most.
Some like to live in another’s pocket,
while others keep a distance that’s modest, and some cannot be where they want to be.
No one’s the same, but mutual understanding,
is something for which we must aim!”

７）
«Ho ho ho » dit le Père Noël en écoutant l’avis de la pieuvre.
« Arriver à se comprendre malgré nos différences, c’est le plus beau des cadeaux ».
Tout le monde réfléchit un instant et acquiesça.
« Allez ! Nous avons de la route à faire cette année encore ».

「ほうほうほう」
サンタはタコの意見を聞いて言いました。
「ちがうからこそ、お互いをわかりあう。
それが一番のプレゼントじゃな！」
みんな、ちょっと考えて、そうだ、そうだと頷きました。
「よし！　今年も出発じゃ！」

“Ho, ho, ho!”
Santa considered the Octopus’s words.
“What makes us different, makes us content.
It’s the best gift of all, of that I am sure!”
Everybody was pleased to find that they agreed.
“It’s time to get to grips with this year’s trip!”

Ainsi, le Père Noël et ses amis prirent la route dans la nuit étoilée de Noël.
